#1: Gauge Your Employee’s Behavior

Regardless of what the attitude is, the very first thing to do before changing it is to determine it. If possible, the measuring process of the behavior should be quantitative and objective. When you measure the objective cues rather than the subjective cues, then you remove the possibilities of arguments on the result.

Secondly, you should quantify it. If 15 out of 25 times sheets where passed on the deadline, the rate of getting the task successfully is 80 percent. Quantifying the behavior of you employee can be tracked over time. Remember that the trends can be tracked right away. Also, improvements and tasks done are obvious to pinpoint.

#2: Focus on the Results

It is always an excellent way to measure behavior, but it may be lacking. If you gauge results, but they go to a storage box and you ignore it, then nothing will ever change. We often claim what we measure and focus on is what you would get.

 If you want the tasks to be done on time, then measure the performance of your people and give feedback to know that you are not ignoring the results. When a person turns the time sheets on time, announce it on a meeting and reward that employee. Make sure that all of your people know that it is vital to you.

#3: Give Consequences to Your People

Last but not the least; you will need to enforce consequences when they fail to perform. But, be very careful when you say your words to this employee. Notably, you will want to make an exception too.

But, you do not also want to twist your policies and guidelines. So, be very careful when you make public announcements that you may not want to enforce. If it becomes essential to discipline the offender, then your employees will eventually get the message.
